Homemade pizza
Every so often I make pizza myself. I do buy the dough premade, I haven't attempted to make it myself- yet. I use 2 pckgs of dough from my bakery at my grocery store, because I find one doesn't stretch enough for my large round Pampered Chef pizza stone. I put cornmeal down on the stone first before I put the dough on. It makes such a crispy crust- yum. Here it is out of the oven.
I had homemade marinara sauce that I made a few days ago, with onion, zucchini, peppers, mushrooms and the trick is some red wine. You have to use the stuff you drink- I put in some Cabernet Sauvingnon. It was just enough for the pizza. I put on black olives (I use an egg slicer to slice them), fresh mushrooms, Italian green peppers and I used a half a block of Follow Your Heart mozzarella that I had thawed from the freezer. The trick is to cut it into tiny cubes, because it doesn't shred well. I learned that from Kenny at Vegan Lunch Cast. I don't know what happened to him- he stopped posting after his seitan tutorial months ago. The funny thing was I spent this afternoon making the VwaV tempeh sausage crumbles, and I forgot to put them on, until 5 minutes before the pizza was done, so I tossed them on top. You have to have a hot oven for the chreese to melt- like 425. I didn't realize the up close slice picture was blurry- so sorry about that!
Tomorrow Kristen and I are going to a fancy spa by me. First we are having lunch at a vegan restaurant that makes Chinese/Japanese food with mock meats. She is getting a European facial and I am getting an hour full body massage and free half hour of reflexology. We are going to pamper ourselves...

Your pizza looks delicious.
It's always nice to be pampered and massaged. I hope you have a wonderful time at the spa!
Oh have a GREAT time at the spa! I am stoked you and Kristen are going. Reflexology sounds super! And i am gonna love hearing about that, the massage and the Asian restaurant with mock meats. Lucky girl, Karen! Yay!
That pizza looks soooooooooooo good. Blurry or not, i am lovin' it. Thanks for the tips on the cheez. I'll remember that. I am lovin' yer shot of the whole pie out of the oven. WOW! It's got the best stuff on there and it looks incredibly delicious!! Good job on that!
Burry or nt the pizza looks good. An hour massage. I had a deep muscle massage on my upper back and neck to destress my sore muscles. I hurt for a couple of days. Hope they take it easy on you. :)

the pizza looks ahh-mazing! and the spa sounds the same....
Hey Karen! I've been busy with work too. Seems like a lot of us bloggers are tied up lately.
Don't you just love Pampered Chef? I use my round stone all the time, for almost everything, but especially pizza. I also cut my pizza with a Pampered Chef pizza cutter. I've got a real problem. I have so much of their stuff, it's insane. Your pizza looks really yummy. Sausage crumbles sounds like a tasty addition. I'll have to try that. We eat A LOT of pizza. More than is considered normal. But then again...it's Jim & I I'm talking about. LOL!
Have fun on your pampering day at the spa. I get massages for my back. I'm not sure yet if they're helping, but they sure feel nice. ENJOY!!
What a brilliant pizza. I wish I could find that follow your heart cheeze. I've never seen it in the stores in Toronto.
I once used a pizza stone without cornmeal and the crust glued itself to the stone. Yikes...it was brutal.
i have been SO in mthe mood for pizza..that looks good. i wnt to make Carries' mustard pizza and have yet to do that.
we love pizza here and your looks very good!
You're such a good hand in the kitchen, I think you should try to make your own pizza dough - it's really not that hard (and believe me, I can't deal with anything too tedious) and it's so satisfying! My little sister just made some fancy crusts with chickpea flour (recipe here) and whole wheat flour (recipe here), but even the easiest pizza dough recipe is great!
that pizza looks great...
gotta love vegan pizza!!
you're still @ the spa, aren't you?! :o) i don't blame you one bit!!!!
